About
Towards the end of 2019, I found myself searching for higher quality home furnishings.
The usual suspects came up with some really beautiful designs. However, when digging deeper into the “specifications” I became bothered that so many products were veneered plywood, particle board, MDF, or synthetic materials.
Frustrated with $2,500 tables that were just veneer - I figured I’ll goto the lumber yard and learn more about solid wood. It was a surreal experience, dozens of domestic and exotic hardwood stacked and organized throughout a warehouse. I had a ton of questions; learning about board feet, seasonal expansion/contraction, rift sawn, quarter sawn and lumber thickness. With the help of the staff, we calculated about how much walnut I would need to make a solid wood table and loaded up my sedan.
Once back home, with my DIY miter saw and contractors table saw, I got to work making my solid walnut dining table (that our family still uses today!). This was the beginning of Edina Woodworking.
Fast forward to 2023, many things have changed: a dedicated shop, increased skillset, industrial sized tools, and hand tools for intricate joinery to name a few. However, the vision to craft only the highest quality pieces that fit your style and last a lifetime remains.
